A new sign now hangs on a restaurant at Reston Station, across the plaza from the JW Marriott. It reads Ebbitt House. A representative told The Burn on Oct. 11 that the team is aiming to open around the first week of November. The official site says the same thing: "opens early November 2026."
For anyone who ate at Clyde's of Reston, this opening is the news of the season. It also changes where the season happens. For three decades, a holiday night out in Reston meant Town Center. Starting this November, the rink and the tree stay at Town Center, while the restaurant group that anchored Town Center for 31 years reopens near Wiehle-Reston East.
Thirty-One Years at Town Center, Then Four Without
Clyde's of Reston closed on May 21, 2022, after 31 years at Reston Town Center, FFXnow reported. Clyde's Restaurant Group wanted to keep the following it had built there. So when it was offered a spot at Reston Station, the mixed-use development Comstock is building in phases around the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station, the team took it. The lease was announced in March 2023. Later that year, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved changes to Comstock's plans that included an outdoor dining area for the restaurant.
That makes roughly three and a half years from lease to opening day. The last few weeks of that wait shifted too. In August, FFXnow reported that the restaurant was on track for October. On Oct. 13, Reston Review reported the move to November and said no reason was given. As of this writing there is no exact opening day. The restaurant's own hours page simply reads "Opening November 2026."
What Opens at 1860 Reston Row Plaza
The name comes from Old Ebbitt Grill, the Clyde's restaurant in D.C. The Reston spot will share that place's classic American menu, big bar and raw oyster program, but it won't be a copy. A spokesperson described the Reston connection to FFXnow this way:
"For guests who knew Clyde's of Reston, Ebbitt House will offer the same warmth and hospitality that defined those years, expressed through a new restaurant with its own menu, its own character, and its own place in Reston's story."
Former regulars will also see some familiar faces. FFXnow reported that General Manager Ajay Bhatia and Executive Chef Diego Ramirez both worked at Clyde's of Reston. Bhatia told the outlet he looks forward to "reconnecting with my regulars."
Here is what the restaurant has published so far:
- Size: a 260-seat dining room with two private rooms and two bars, plus a 125-seat patio with a third bar outside
- Raw bar: the posted menu lists shellfish towers, oysters, clams, crab salad, shrimp, lobster, crudo and caviar
- Kitchen: burgers, steak, house-made pastas, seafood and shareable plates, with wine, beer, martinis and other cocktails at the bar
- Posted hours: Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to midnight, Friday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to midnight
- Groups: the private events page says larger parties can reserve the outdoor bar and patios, with more details still to come
The posted hours run past midnight on Friday and Saturday, so it works after the rink as well as before it. Reservations are linked from the restaurant's location page.
Ebbitt House joins a short list of businesses at Reston Row: Noku Sushi, the bakery Tous les Jours and VIDA Fitness. Noku opened in February 2026. The Back Nine Golf, an indoor golf simulator venue, signed its lease in May, according to Comstock's announcement. Its Reston page still says "Coming Soon." A 260-seat restaurant is the first business at Reston Row big enough to bring people over just for dinner.
Town Center Still Holds the Calendar
Ebbitt House opens in the same month Town Center's winter season starts. The two will run side by side through the holidays.
The ice skating pavilion at 1818 Discovery Street opens Friday, Nov. 6, and runs through March 14, 2027, weather permitting. The rink's booking page lists 90-minute sessions starting at 11:30 a.m. The last session runs from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, and $10 for children 12 and under, seniors and military. Skate rental costs extra. Groups of 10 or more pay $15 per person, and that price includes skates. The booking page doesn't say which days get the late session, so call the rink before you plan a late skate.
The biggest day of the season is the Friday after Thanksgiving. Here is the November schedule as currently posted:
- Early November: Ebbitt House plans to open at 1860 Reston Row Plaza.
- Friday, Nov. 6: The Reston Town Center skating pavilion opens for the season.
- Friday, Nov. 27, 11 a.m.: The Reston Holiday Parade. Spectators stand along the streets, and the Reston Town Center Association notes the parade is "perennially a USA Today top ten in country."
- Nov. 27, afternoon: Train and carriage rides, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and skating.
- Nov. 27, 4:30 to 8 p.m.: Sip & Stroll. Buy a drink at a participating restaurant and carry it onto the street. Outside alcohol isn't allowed, and coolers may be checked.
- Nov. 27, 6 p.m.: Tree lighting.
- Sunday, Dec. 6, 8 to 10 a.m.: The Run with Santa 5K.
Parade day is free, and garage parking on site is free too. For weather cancellations or day-of changes, the association lists 703-435-6600, extension 2.
The Dining Map Has Been Spreading Since July
The openings since July are spread across the town rather than gathered in one spot.
At Town Center, Vienna's Clarity opened a second restaurant at 1996 Opportunity Way on Friday, July 24, FFXnow reported. The Town Center directory also lists Grazie Nonna and Dogfish Head Alehouse as "Coming Soon," with no dates yet. On Democracy Drive, True Food Kitchen served its last meal in Reston on Oct. 4. Its Merrifield location is still open.
At Lake Anne Plaza, Kinship Wine + Wares has been open since the July 4th weekend at 1635B Washington Plaza North, next door to Elden Street Tea Shop. It sells wine alongside vintage housewares. FFXnow reported that owner Jennifer Monago, a certified sommelier, held her official grand opening in September. She told the outlet that when a Lake Anne space opened up, "I jumped at the chance." The shop is open 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Its hours line up with weekend afternoons, which makes it an easy stop for a bottle on the way to a holiday dinner.
At Plaza America, Andy's Pizza is set to replace MOD Pizza at 11642 Plaza America Drive by the end of the year, according to FFXnow. No opening date has been announced.
That's four areas in four months: Town Center, Lake Anne, Plaza America and Reston Row. The tree lighting still brings everyone to Town Center on Nov. 27. The rest of the season's dinners now have more places to go, and the largest of them is at Reston Station.
Clyde's return to Reston Station is one more sign of how much this part of Reston has changed since 2022.
